Avon 1876 Cape Cod Ruby Red Glass Wine Decanter with Original Stopper Stunning!
eBay Avon 1876 Cape Cod Collection Ruby Red GLASS DECANTER Avon introduced the 1876 Cape Cod Collection in 1975 as their first venture into dinnerware. The design was based on an old Boston & Sandwich Glass Works pattern - Boston & Sandwich Glass Works was founded in 1825 in Cape Cod - hence the name (however they decided to merge it with the 1876 Philadelphia Centennial). The deep ruby red glass was produced by the Wheaton Glass Company for Avon from 1975-1992. Red glass takes a high percentage of gold to produce, adding to its value. In all, 37 different pieces were produced.This decanter often loses its stopper - so this piece with the stopper in tact is a rare find!Signed Avon on the bottom Approx. 10" tallIn excellent condition with no chips, cracks, or color fading. I've had it in my curio cabinet since I bought it direct from Avon in the mid 90's. Vintage AVON CAPE COD COLLECTION RUBY RED DECANTER WITH SET OF SIX GOBLETS 1876
This listing is for a vintage set of Avon Cape Cod Collection Ruby Red pieces. In this set you'll receive six 4 1/2-Inch tall goblets along with the 10-Inch tall decanter which is complete with the original stopper which comes in and out of place as it should. Condition of each piece is is excellent with any imperfections being minor. The official 1876 CAPE COD COLLECTION description says: The Boston & Sandwich Glass Works, founded on Cape Cod in 1825, was famous for its pressed glass with elaborate, lacy designs, fine stippling and sparkling brilliance. So popular were these "Sandwich" pieces that the name became a generic term for pressed glass. One of these lacy designs, "Roman Rosette," was the inspiration for this splendid collection by Avon. Its name commemorates the area where Sandwich glass originated as well as the 1876 Philadelphia Centennial Exposition where the 100th Anniversary of the Declaration was celebrated... Found at an estate sale, this is one listing of a large collection of this AVON ruby red dinner ware and serving pieces.
